Re-barn - Contemporary architectural and artistic reflections on the role of barns in the 21st century

At our exhibition opening, two architects and four visual artists will present the results of their collaborative work: plans for barn conversions and artistic creations inspired by barns, as well as two publications created from these works, intended for barn owners and local government.

About the event
With the loss of barns' agricultural function, their demolition has rapidly increased, resulting in the irreversible impoverishment and loss of character in the appearance of our villages. Through our event, we aim to encourage barn owners and local government decision-makers to preserve them by introducing new functions in them.
The Agri-Cultura-Natura Transylvaniae Association, together with the Community College of Art for the Carpathian Basin from Hungary and Landcare Association Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz from Germany, is concluding the Creative Europe funded project "BarnCulture".
BarnCulture's overall goal was to offer ideas for preserving the built heritage of rural areas while seeking modern and sustainable solutions. Six architects and twelve visual artists worked together to breathe new life into old barns, keeping affordability and environmental protection in mind.
